Stereotypes

In our short film, we represented our stereotypes of age and social class by showing the audience common stereotypes of these groups of people. For example, we showed that youths can be associated with drugs and become violent to other people. In our video a duo of teenagers robbed a rich man and then another pair subverted the stereotype by chasing after them and bringing justice. This surprises the audience because they were seen doing drugs at the start which connotes they may not be nice people.

We represented our genre of comedy by having exaggeration in our actions. This made the things we did look very silly and over-the-top. An example of when we did this was when the two teenagers punched the man in the face. This is because the punches happened at the same time and looked like it was timed. Also, another example would be where the other pair of teenagers who were pursuing the violent ones did fly-kicks on them. This would not be the usual action to do to the offenders since it appears to be overdramatic.

In our video, we used non-diegetic music throughout to emphasise the actions and at the end non-diegetic music to signal a change - the end. We also used sound bridges to show the continuity of the scenes and it linked them together. We decided not to have dialogue to keep it a silent film and the effect of it was that it made the audience more immersed in the action rather than any speech which would not have had a big impact or effect on the film.
