- In
my opinion, our final product was very successful
because it was our first project and wewere able to incorporate quite a
few
editing skills into our short film. This includes an advanced effect of
changing saturation to make our film have a “sin city” effect. Our film
followed the script incredibly well because there was only one scene
which we
did not include due to time restraints. Everything else was included and
accurate according to the script with the correct dialogue. Our film
represented
the TV crime drama genre quite well because the acting was fairly
realistic in
following the script so you could tell it was a crime drama. The shift
of power
was clear because you could see who was in control and able to complete
their
job.
2. We worked effectively as a team by have teamwork,
cooperation and communication with each other. These three main things had a
big impact on our ability to work together. Communication was the most
important reason why we did well, this is because it helped us to know each
member’s role and what we had to do. Cooperation helped us as well because it
ensured that we would get the work done by agreeing with each other and
performing the act of the assigned role.
3. I represented my character through sound and mise en
scene by using specific features. My character was mainly linked to mise en
scene and it was represented by using certain objects and attribute or mise en
scene. For example, I wore a black jacket to make the villain seem more menacing
and evil-like since the colour black is linked to crime and obscurity/secrecy.
4. I used sound to represent stereotypes by having the crime
scene fairly quiet. This gave a feeling of the body in the scene being
abandoned and just on its own. All of our film consists of diegetic sounds
which make the film seem more natural. We did not use any non-diegetic sounds
unfortunately due to time restraints. Although it would have been a nice
addition to the film, it was not needed so much. This is because we filmed in a
quiet area which made all the dialogue easily heard.
5. I used mise en scene to represent stereotypes well. The clothing
we wore fitted in with the effect we wanted. In order to achieve it, we had the
cops wear a red top and the villain wear dark clothes. The lighting was quite
good as the natural light coming in from the window was bright enough to see
everything and even after we made the film black and white. The production design
was excellent as we didn’t have distractions or loud sounds during the filming
so the overall feel is good. The performance of the actors was moderate as we
weren’t great at acting and some parts may have seemed dramatic. However, we
did all the things we needed to do which were in the script so it went well.
The props were not great since we only had a gun and a radio transmitter but
that was all. However, they were put to good use as they added authenticity to
the scene and made it a bit more realistic.
6. I learned about different shots and angles worked better
for some scenes and a lot of the editing. The editing was interesting because
we used the de-saturate function which took colour out the film. I also learned
how to make scenes black and white.
7. If I were to improve the scenes, I would add music to the
background; use some transitions to make the scene change less sudden and have
more props to go with such as police hats and perhaps jackets.

9. From audience feedback, we learned that we should use transitions
and some music to make it seem more interesting and appealing.
10. My individual role
was to play the character of the villain in the film and help with some of the
editing work.
